For 15 year old Sereima Caldwell, the decision to shave off her long hair was easy. Sereima, in year 10 at Bishop Druitt College, said she wanted to take the plunge for the World’s Greatest Shave because it was a small thing she could do to help people facing the devastating diagnosis of leukaemia.

“I wanted to do something that helps other people,” Sereima said. Sereima rallied friends and family to help her raise money, with fundraising activities including hosting a barbecue outside Bunnings on 22 October 2016.

She had her hair shaved off on Saturday, November 5 at 10am and will donate her long locks to Variety – The Children’s Charity, to make a wig for a child who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

Sereima has so far raised $2,910, more than double her goal of $1,000.

The Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave raises money to provide vital support to people diagnosed with blood cancer.

Sereima said she was nervous on the day of the shave but having so much support from her friends made it easy.

“Everyone seemed more nervous than I was about my losing my hair but I knew it was for a good cause,” she said.

“Thank you so much for supporting me to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.”

Dad, Simon Caldwell, Partner at Mbt Lawyers, said he was very proud of his daughter for taking part in the shave. “People have been so generous for this very good cause,” Mr Caldwell said.
