Do you have a Power of Attorney?

· · ·

A Power of Attorney is a document which allows a person or persons you trust to look after financial matters for you if you are unable to do so for any reason – whether because you’re busy on your holiday or to cover yourself in case of incapacity.

A Power of Attorney continues as long as you want it to, and it can be cancelled at any time while you have the capacity to make decisions.

You can specify what restrictions are placed on your attorney’s powers to deal with your finances.

.If you so wish, your attorney can be given power to deal with all your financial matters, including real estate. In order for your attorney(s) to be able to deal with real estate, or in some cases, shares, your Power of Attorney will need to be registered with the NSW Land Property and Information department.
